March 1st is here!

Today is release day!

And for those of you who like to listen to the books, I have some good news: the Audible version, narrated by Davina Porter, should be up in a day or two, as well. And wonder of all wonders, they've given it essentially the same cover:

In fact, this one's kinda cool because you can see parts of the artist's original painting that the art director cropped out.

Blogger is really not cooperating with me here, but hopefully it will straighten out its issues soon.

I still have not listened to an audio book, other than having my Kindle read to me on occasion. Lana is listening to them though so I'll put her on to this.

And my stalking of the mailbox begins...

I always get the audio book too so it's nice that it will be available so soon.

Charles, I just got a Kindle to have it read my old historical manuscripts to me for copyediting. It really isn't bad.

Veronica, the audio for WHAT REMAINS OF HEAVEN should be up in a few days, too.

The all-important notice from the library arrived this morning so I can go pick up my copy! But I have to wait on Suzanne and Betty to start - How will I stand it! As an aside #1 - that guy on the cover really is pretty cute (without the hat)...and aside #2 - every time I open your web page I am impressed even more by the redesign. It just looks great and makes me think of your wonderful stories.

Lynne, yes, I like him; I hope they can get him for the next cover.

Oh I do love audio books. I'm waiting for this one to get, too!

You got a kindle! You are really going to find out all the advantages of eReaders (most particularly, size and weight!) I use Kindle for iPad, and much prefer it, because I found some navigation issues with the Kindle clunky (and I use my iPad more than I even use my phone LOL). Haven't been able to block out the time to read yet, but by this afternoon I have a big chunk cleared out. I have the ebook and hard copy (in case I run out of power...)

Paz, I asked my husband if I could borrow his for a few days to read the first manuscript to me. He got a pained look on his face, ordered a new one without telling me and just handed it to me a couple of days later!

Hahaha! I totally am like that with my husband, who has his own iPad but is more generous with it and the kids have taken it over.

Loved you book. The plot was so intricate, yet so well crafted. Such powerful themes. And such teasers!!!! Ugh, next March can't come soon enough!

I like the new model on the cover too. He looks a little bit like Robson Green. I was out this morning and wouldn't you know it, that was when the parcel post man came! So my copy is being held hostage by the post office until after 4pm this afternoon. I can't wait to get my hands on it and get reading with the girls.

My copy of "Falcons" was delivered yesterday, the 3rd. I made some popcorn, curled up in my favorite chair, and read while the weather turned nasty. SUPERB. You know I love Sebastian and Hero, and you are just as good with the other characters. (Why do I find myself thinking we'll be seeing Archie again?). Heddie Kincaid, Jenny Dalyrimple are definitely women of substance; it was a stroke of genius to show the younger woman chopping wood. I especially appreciated that the plot, while seeming to touch directly on events spanning less than 20 years, stretched forward and backward by centuries. As I read I kept thinking of the documentary evidence of Shakespeare's attitudes about attempts at enclosure in Stratford. (It appears that the argument was taken all the way to the Privy Council and, two years after Shakespeare's passing, the attempted enclosure was quashed.) Favorite line -Hero: "Now, turn around and go away. You are boring me."

Just finished the book...wonderful

Finished the book- read it super fast then re-read it slowly. Great read. It is really hard to wait for each book- can you just clone yourself so that you can crank out more books? This is my selfish side talking!
I have a dumb question. Is there any chance that you could have the necklace appear on one of your covers? I have been imagining what it looks like , and it would be cool to see the necklace as it appears in your imagination . Forgive me if you have already done so- I have lost track of the covers. I guess I should go back and look at them.
Anyway- this is still a great series and I really enjoy the books.

Candy-I finally got the chance to read Falcons this weekend. Wow! It was great. I loved the story line with Lucien Bonaparte and having Archie to assist Sebastian. I kept thinking at one point this has got to be the work of 2 people - who kills this much and for so long but then I realized serial killers had to start someplace in time. And I thought it was funny that they traveled with so many people and things. One little baby really changes things. Cant wait to re-read - much slower. Congratulations - another winner! Best Ali

Paz, thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Suzanne, isn't that the way it always happens?

Barbara, thank you. I did not know that about Shakespeare, although I've read a fair amount about him and his family as he is a (very, very) distant cousin of mine through the Ardens. And yes, I do love Hero!

Essex, I REALLY wish I could write faster, believe me. As for the necklace, I would hate to trust its creation to the art department, who would probably come up with something all wrong. The necklace actually did exist and one belonged to an illegitimate daughter of James II, but unfortunately the necklace and the photos of it were lost in Katrina (it was not in my possession).

Ali, thank you. You know, one of the challenges of writing about this period is getting killers, victims, and suspects away from all their danged servants long enough for murder!

I have a question! First, let me say I do so enjoy this series. Like other readers and commentators on this blog, I read thru "Falcons" quickly, and went back for a slower re-read to absorb more details of the story and do more visualization.

On page 325 Sebastian is talking with Bonaparte. Bonaparte says ... "... the man is an idiot content to pocket a few dollars here and there..." Dollars? Why does he say DOLLARS? Why not francs or pounds or shillings?
Just curious .. - Dawnell
