Title Change

It's official: book number seven in the Sebastian St. Cyr mystery series in now called When Maidens Mourn (instead of Why Maidens Mourn).

Some found the title difficult to say; others thought it implied that maidens always mourn. Personally, I thought the "why" version tread a little too close to "Why Mermaids Sing." So hopefully this bit of tweaking will help.

I currently have my head down, working frantically to finish this manuscript, which is due 1 March. So you might not hear from me again until then!

Verrrrry nice ... and best wishes for the writing. The Sebastian-Hero pairing is one of my favorites.

I never found the title too problematic. But now that I read the new title, I guess I do like it more :-) But that could be because you wrote it, and because it means that one more installment in the Hero/Sebastian series is closer to fruition!

Here is to wishing you swiftness, and other writing pleasures

When Maidens mourn does seem to roll off the tongue a bit easier.

I think the change in title is good. The "why" just didn't quite work. Interesting that your publisher agreed.

Have to admit that I haven't paid too much attention to the titles- I just want the next book in my greedy little hands! But I do prefer the "when" over the "why"- like mentioned before, the implication is different, which I think segues better into a mystery. I enjoy the books tremendously, I must say, no matter what. Keep them coming, please . Any possibility that you could clone yourself so that we could get maybe two or three Sebastian books a year without sacrificing quality or your sanity? :)

I like it much better :-) But I agree with the last poster - I just want the book in my greedy little hands!
Good luck with finishing the manuscript. How do you deal with working under a deadline? Doesn't it cramp creativity for you? Or are you one of those people that thrives on deadline induced stress? Just curious!

Is it March yet?? I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the Sebastian series. I love the Lady of Shalot picture as the starting point for the book 7. Maybe some fog scene in the background to follow the trend started by Where Serpents Sleep. That's still my favorite cover to date. The first chapter you posted is great!! Looking fwd more!

I have just finished reading Where Shadows Dance and I think the Sebastian/Hero pairing is outstanding. I have all the St.Cyr Mysteries and they are all "keepers". I hope book #7 will be published as quickly as possible - I have not enjoyed a series as much as this since the Anne Perry William Monk series.

I do wish Kat would drop off the story line in your books. I like the tension between Hero and Sebastian.
