Happy Mardi Gras!
It's a cold, wet Mardi Gras here in New Orleans, although we did have some lovely parade days this year, despite Carnival falling so early.
These pictures are from the Krewe of Babylon on Friday night and Tucks on Saturday, and were simply taken with a cell phone, so I'm sorry the quality isn't the best.
Tucks was started by a bunch of Tulane students some decades ago, and has never taken itself too seriously. It's origins also help to explain the toilet theme. That's the King of Tucks, above, on his throne. They have some very original marching groups...
Happy Mardi Gras, everyone!

That's hilarious! It was reported William and Harry sneaked a cell phone mailbox message onto their grandmother's phone: "Liz here! Wazzup? I can't come to the phone right now, I'm on the throne!" Ex Officio Tuck members, methinks.
I'm on a count down to electronic and audio book day! Laissez bon temps rouler...
Outrageous, outlandish, and debauchery, oh my! What fun! Thanks for the photos (they each tell their own tale-LOL!) and histories associated with the floats and figures. Will have to put the New Orleans Mardi Gras on my list of "must see..."
Love the Tricerotops! We went to the Push Mow parade in Abita springs and enjoyed it.

Jan, Tucks has always been one of my favorite parades.
LOgalinOR, if you come, be sure to watch the parades on St. Charles, down in the neighborhoods, rather than on Canal. And the parades BEFORE Fat Tuesday are in my opinion the best.
Charles, that sounds like fun! And a lot less crowded....
