Still Alive--and Some Good News

Sorry for the long absence. Without going into too much detail, I had a nasty reaction to some prescription meds. The past month is a bit of a blur, but I'm starting to feel better and hopefully will be back up to steam soon.

Now for the good news: I've accepted a new contract for two more Sebastian St. Cyr books, Numbers 9 and 10 in the series. They actually wanted the next book in nine months, but since I was trying not to die at the time, I had to say "No, better give me 10 or 11 months, just to be safe."

(The photo of the cat sleeping in the window of a French Quarter art gallery comes from when I was walking around during a break in the Tennessee Williams Literary Festival last month.)

Excellent news. You had me worried with the long silence. Am so glad you are feeling better. Sounds just horrible. Additional great news on the book front. Congratulations. I'm going to Dallas on Wed and have the audio version of WMM ready to listen to on the plane. I've been saving the audio version for the trip so I had something to look forward to. Take care of yourself!!! Sabena

So glad to read that you're feeling better now, but so sorry also to read that you went through such a rough time for the past month, when you should've been able to enjoy the excited buzz surrounding the release of MAIDENS.

And YAY on more Devlin books.

I'm glad to hear that you're recuperating! As much as we love your books and want them, like NOW, its great to know that you are considering your health first and foremost! I do hope whatever that is ailing you will take its course and you'll come out better than ever! I'm praying for your health and that of your loved ones!

And much congratulations on the additional books deal! I never doubted that those books will hit the shelf!

Keep writing and we'll faithfully continue to read!

Really glad you're feeling better...being sick is not fun, especially when what's supposed to cure you is making you sick.

And yay for two more books!! Congratulations!!

I really enjoyed When Maidens Mourn -- thank you for a really good read. Now I want to read the next one :).

Glad to know you on the mend Candy. Antibiotics can be very nasty things!! As my mother used to say "necessary evils".
Am enjoying the new book a great deal. I only read a few pages at a time so as to eke it out a bit.
Do take care, ones health is sacrosacnt!
Look forward to the next Sebastian St. Cyr book and the and the next and.............

I only recently discovered your books, and want to let you know how much I'm enjoying them, especially at this time of the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. Canada is actually paying quite a lot of attention to the anniversary since it marks a sort of coming of age for this country (even before it was a country!) I live a short walk away from the site of the British navy's former shipyards and fortifications on Lake Ontario (now a UNESCO World Heritage site) and am daily reminded of the importance of the little war in North America. So are my 2 kids, who grew up in Washington, DC (my husband is a retired World Bank/IMF economist) and learned almost nothing about the war in this part of North America. I've linked to your website on my own blog.

Finished WMM earlier this week and am very happy to hear that there will be at least two more books and that you are on the mend. For both selfish and unselfish motives, therefore, I wish you a speedy recovery and good health going forward.

I keep dropping by hoping for a crumb or two on What Darkness Brings. :)

I'm glad you're recovering. Medication reactions are horrible.

Two more books??? Huzzah! Remember if you need a spring board, I'd be more than happy to pre-read them for you. :)

Love the cat picture. A place to find a body? As art?

Although I quite like the St. Cyr novels, your historicals are my favourites. They would make wonderful young adult stories, too.

I just recently discovered your books (where has Sebastian been all my life?) and love them. I was hooked after only a few pages. Am almost finished with "When Gods Die" and am looking forward to reading the rest! Feel beter and keep up the good work. I wish I could write half as good as you!

Barbara, thank you.

Steve, well, I am now!

Elaine, I've taken everyone's advice and just ignored this blog for so long, I feel awful.

Jan, thank you!

Paz, the nice this is that my publishers are actually *excited.*

Sabena, Thank you. I'm curious, do you like the audio versions? It's impossible for me to judge.

cs harris said...

Keira, Yes, being so sick the month your new book is released is never a good idea!

Linhie, thank you!

Jessica, the next one is coming!

Alice, thank you! If you find a good book, let me know. I've really plowed through my TBR pile the last few months.

Jayne, there is no doubt that Crawford had a huge influence on Sebastian. And yes, I know I should do more with my Facebook page. Maybe soon...

Jane, thank you! I do have lots more planned, at least up through 1815.

Charles, thank you. I'm amazed at the way you've managed to keep posting with all that you are going through.

Firefly, thanks. Actually, it wasn't antibiotics but steroids. The problem is, if you need them, you need them.

Liz, thanks so much. I saw a funny article the other day that described the War of 1812 as the war the Americans think they won, the Canadians think they won, and most Brits don't even know they fought.

Susan, thank you!

Mom in high heels, thank you!

RanRan, I have to admit I miss my historical romances, too.

Anon at 9:37, thank you, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the series.

Anon at 2:17, thank you!

Jan, thank you. I am much, much better now.
