It’s Mardi Gras Time Again, and Brrrrh!

Last week we were basking in 80 degree weather. But for this weekend’s first Carnival parades, the temperatures plummeted down into the 30’s. Does this girl look miserable, or what?

With wind chill factors down in the 20’s, we never made it to last night’s Krewe du Vieux parade through the French Quarter. But we did brave the cold for the Driftwood Parade.

This is a neighborhood parade, and always a great time—even when mittens make catching beads hard!

I shudder to think what would happen to y'all if it really got cold down here one day. *LOL* So strange, the relativity of ideas like "cold" & "hot."

I remember Minnesota in spring, it got up to the 20's, we were in tee shirts.

Then, in New Orleans, it'd drop to 50 and I'd be huddled over a heater!

Oh, but I do miss Mardi Gras...

Yeah, I'm always sending my kids into eye rolls, talking about trudging three miles through blizzards in 20 degrees below zero weather up in Northern Idaho. But I NEVER got used to it. And that damp cold gale yesterday was a killer!

We may have the best of both worlds here in Riverside. We can see the snow on the mountains peaks while not having the cold here in the valley. And if for some reason, we actually want to touch snow, we could drive somewhere snowy in an hour or less.

I sure hope the pipes in our New Orleans house are okay.
