Everyone familiar with the Sebastian St. Cyr series knows that Sebastian has a majordomo named Morey. But I'm not sure anyone knows where that name came from. The truth is, he's named after this lady:
That's right; Morey is named in honor of my friend Trish Morey, a Harlequin/Mills and Boon author who was a member of my writers' group when I lived in Adelaide. Don't get me wrong; I don't envision Sebastian's Morey as looking anything like Trish! But when I started the first Sebastian book all those many years ago, I had to give the majordomo a name I'd remember easily and "Morey" leapt to mind and sounded right. So Morey he became. And since the original Morey has a book out today/tomorrow, it seemed like an appropriate time to confess.
If you enjoy contemporary romances and you've never read one of Trish's books, you're in for a treat because she's a seriously funny writer.
And can I just say, I love that cover!

I love the cover, too! Couldn't find the book on amazon. I did find one of hers that I could get from the kindle loan library. I will give it a try. Love that Morey is your friend -thanks for sharing. On a totally different note I just looked at a map of London to find the hotel we are staying at and saw I am just a block or so away from Brook street and where Sebastian and Hero live. I'm so excited to walk by and see maybe even have tea in he hotel that is there now. Any other characters named after friends? Sabena
It's such an unusual name, but a really good, distinctive one too so a good steal by you! I've downloaded a sample of another of your friend's books since (like Sabena) I can't see this one for sale yet in the UK.
Thank you Candy! I am so very honoured.
You know, Candy was one of my hugest inspirations - and remains so - and one of my favourite ever authors. I was blessed to lob into the romance group Candy headed all the way down here in Adelaide, South Australia, and I learnt a hell of a lot from her, about writing, about being a professional author, about the industry, about being real. Thank you so much, Candy!
And thank you Helena and friend for checking out my stories. Second Chance Bride is finally up on Amazon (and at a special mates rates price of only 99c for two days and only if you want to check it out). This story is a return to my romcom roots,I do believe. My Hqn Presents stories are usually a tad more angsty and hero driven. This one was well and truly driven by Scarlett, bless her little cotton socks. How could I not have fun with her?
Thanks again, Candy. Hoping we will catch up again in person some time.
xx
This is Candy's version of Paul Harvey's "The Rest of the Story." :)
Sabena, I think there was some hiccup getting it up at Amazon; it's up now for 99 cents for the next two days. And you'll have to walk around the corner and take a picture for me! I think most of the other houses on the street are still there. As for other names, well, Mrs. Federico is named after my daughter's high school principle, although I don't think he'd be impressed!
Helena, this whole business of when books are available in various countries is soooooooo frustrating.
Trish, thank you! And I may be going to San Antonio--depending on the wee kittens!
Chareles, hehe...
Yes, found it!!! Great special. Got it and looking forward to it. Thanks for the heads up. And definitely I will take a picture. I don't think I'll have time to visit other Sebastian sites, as we got two free days of tours (by booking thru Costco) and are off on those our two full days in London (all the usual touristy stuff), so am especially excited I'm so close to Brook Street. If you ever do a book signing in San Antonio, let us know as I have a good friend there who I would send in my stead. Was sorry to read in the other post that the kittens aren't doing as well. With our little guy who had a congenital heart defect, we were just torn apart and sad when we lost him, but the vet told us, "You gave him a happy life full of love and caring. He couldn't have been more happy during his short life.". Same is true of your little guys. All in all, not such a bad thing. Sabena
It would be fabulous to see you in San Antonio! Here's sending good vibes to the kittens. All the best!
And thank you, once again

Just had to say I really enjoyed Trish Morey's book. I had just read Boys in the Boat (about 1936 Olympic crew team from WA) and needed something light and funny. It was just the ticket. I had to laugh at one point when someone "huffed". I, personally, love the word and use it and don't understand those that mind it, but since it has been pointed out to you so many times, now when I read it, I think of you and chuckle. Thanks for recommending Trish! Sabena
Sabena, I'm going to try to keep your vet's words in my mind; as you know from your own little guy, it's so hard. And I'm so glad to hear you liked Trish's book. I always worry when I recommend a book because I know people's tastes can differ so wildly. I'm always stunned when someone who likes my books says they also love an author I loathe, so I learned long ago just how unpredictable reactions can be.
Trish, I hope I can make it. I'd love to tack on a nice visit with my daughter there...
