Hiatus
My mother has fallen and broken her hip, so I've spent the last 10 days in the hospital with her. I'll be posting again once things settle down. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who has wished us well.
Two weeks ago my husband and I stayed with our 24 y.o. son in the hospital after his open heart surgery, so we know how stressful that is. You face not just the emotional wear-and-tear but beeping machinery, people coming and going at all hours, and the not very good hospital food. It's an exhausting process, but here's hoping for a very good outcome for you and your mother.
I'm sorry to hear that, hon. I'll keep good thoughts for her. BTW, what's your blog feed address these days? Since you switched, my Google Reader doesn't update anymore...
Having just moved my Mom-in-Law from rehab (broken hip) to an Assisted Living facility, I know what you are dealing with. Best wishes to both you and your Mom.
A bit of advice: make sure you stay on top of the staff at the facility. We found that we REALLY had to advocate for my Wife's Mom (95 years old) or she would have been just another number in the system. The staff was good, but too may times their hands are tied unless the family speaks up for the patient.
All the best and I'm looking forward to your return to the site.
Regret to hear this latest news. My thoughts are with both you and your mother.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear of your mother's fall. I hope she is on the mend and that you are OK.
ReplyDeleteVery sorry to hear that. Mothers seem to be struggling in 2010 so far. I hope that will change for us both.
ReplyDeleteMy sympathies... Let's hope she makes a quick recovery.
