I Said That?--UPDATE

Like most authors, I periodically amuse myself by plugging my name into Google Images. It's how I find reissues of foreign editions of my books, such as the French one above, which is a new cover they've given Night in Eden ( can you say, misleading?!). But I occasionally come across surprises, such as this nice boxed quote:
I don't even remember which book that's from. It sounds rather like Night in Eden. But then, women discovering they are stronger than they thought they were is one of the themes that runs through all my books. The same site had another boxed quote from me, and with this one I am absolutely clueless about the origins:

Anyone know? When you've written over two million words, they do tend to blur.

UPDATE: So Google is my friend; I plugged the quotes in and it took me to another site that not only had the quotes, but the books they came from. The first is indeed Night in Eden, while the second is from Whispers of Heaven. They also had a third quote, also from Whispers of  Heaven: "She had discovered early that what we want out of life can change; that the important thing is to learn to recognize or even simply just admit what we really want, and then to have the courage to reach for it." Interesting.

C- i love a challenge and since i have all your CP books i could certainly do a little research. i was thinking of re-reading East of Eden. Something about the first quote reminds me of Beyond Sunrise. Its a mystery....works good for me. Best Ali

Ali, that is a challenge! And yes, I've been fighting with Random House to get my rights to my romances back for eons. Now that they've joined with the House of Penguins, I'm thinking about asking for it as part of the next contract.

C- well one thing is for sure, I would love to have all of them on my kindle. Like I said the paperbacks take a beating. good luck. Best A

Loved "When Gods Die". A few edit problems: Pg.74 - Morgana described as eldest daughter. Pg.81-Guin described as eldest daughter "left to run wild". Pg.135, incorrect usage of word "palate"; used instead of proper usage "palette" (used to describe several shades of color.

Roseanne, I hate to reread my own books because I ALWAYS see copyediting mistakes that slipped past at the time. Some are truly horrific.

I love the second quote - no matter where it comes from. So many people think being comfortable with someone isn't romantic...why is that? The quote really speaks to the perfect relationship. Rather makes me think of Hero and Sebastian and the way their love has grown. Nice....

After commenting, I went over to Amazon and found all those C. Proctor titles in French and if you were laughing at the cover you featured, Candy...take a gander at the others Amazon has in the French editions...what a hoot! Are the contents as exciting as those "bodice ripper" covers??

Lynne, I was actually surprised to see I was wise enough to write that, pre-Steve. And I'm almost afraid to go look at the rest of the new French covers! That bad? Oh, dear.

That's very cool.

I think the second quote is really good, it sums up a happy relationship in a nutshell. I'm lucky to have been married for 38 years to someone who is also my best friend and I do feel he is somehow part of me. You should get the quote printed on to a nice card and frame it.

C- well you beat me. and i have to admit that was a smart way to do it - and much faster than my plan. but i think i will read Night in Eden again anyway. i have a few days off next week and i plan to get in a great deal of reading. best, Ali

Charles, it was a strange experience.

Susan, you are so lucky. Some of us are slow learners....

Ali, Google is a scary thing.

It's funny but my husband's name is Steve also! Did you write any romances set in the Georgian or Regency periods? If not, will you be likely to in the future?

Love the quotes! I have not read any of your romance books, not being much of a straight up romance girl myself, but these inspire me give yours a try. And the second quote reminds me of Hero and Sebastian too. The third one is pure Hero. :)

Susan, my first romance, NIGHT IN EDEN, was set in 1808, but it's set in colonial New South Wales, where the heroine has been transported after killing her husband. Then WHISPERS OF HEAVEN is set in 1840, in Tasmania; this time it's the hero who has been transported. My romances were not very typically even at the time they were published (in fact, my agent recently said she thought they'd been marketed all wrong; they should have been sold as hardcover historicals), and they're very different from what's published today, so I don't think I'll write another. Although I did really enjoy Gibson's love story in WHY KINGS CONFESS.

Veronica, yes, I think I've written echoes of Hero before--particularly in India McKnight, the heroine of BEYOND SUNRISE.

Your romances sound interesting, I like a romance to have a bit of an edge to it. It's a shame you don't write a steamy 18th century novel on the lines of 'Dangerous Liasons' or something, with everybody trying to out plot each other, you would make a great job of it. You write really good, tasteful sex scenes in the Sebastian books, much better than people like Eloisa James, her's just get tedious.

Beyond Sunrise just went on my "to read" list.

And speaking of tasteful sex scenes...Sebastian and Hero have been how long without marital relations? *ahem* Just saying... ;)

Susan, I must admit that when I recently reread my romances, I found myself skimming the sex scenes!

Veronica, yes, that baby!

I just ordered 'Midnight Confessions', the Civil War romance that you told me was also a bit of a mystery. The tension of a love affair between two people on opposite sides of the war sounds fascinating. . They had it for sale on The Book Depository, where I get your CS Harris books. While there I pre-ordered the paperback version of 'Why Kings Confess', after you saying that it helps the writer if readers do that. It will be a nice arrival in March, around my birthday! Can't imagine why I put a comma in 'hers' in my last comment, I think computers addle my brain sometimes.

Susan, I hope you enjoy it. That was my "test" mystery, to see if I could do it. And thanks for the preorder!
