Cautiously Optimistic!

Huck's fever has finally broken and stayed down for three days now. He's starting to eat and drink on his own, and slowly regaining strength, so we're hopeful he really has finally turned the corner and is on the mend.

Our vets never did figure out what caused it, and I'm still terrified that my other cats will come down with whatever it was. But I'm over the moon and very, very grateful to still have my baby with me.

Needless to say, I've written almost nothing the past two weeks. But I have received a box of ARCs for Why Kings Confess, and I'll be posting a photo soon. My publishers have also started redoing the covers of the first eight books in the Sebastian series, and hopefully I'll get approval to show you the first of those new covers within a few weeks.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

Such good news! I've been checking the blog daily, nervous that there would be bad news so I'm glad that he's on the mend.

The news about the ARCs and the new covers for the previous books is also good. Even though I just discovered this series I will still be buying the books again just to have the new covers. :)

Candice, what terrific news!!! We were all so worried that he did not make it (with no updates for awhile). So he did have another 'life' left, and maybe a few more. The fact that he's eating and drinking on his own-he's well on his way towards recovery.
A "box of ARC's" sounds like fine music to us readers and fans, alike. Is there hope for any of us?........sigh. And new covers, let the mystery, excitement and intrigue begin........(double) sigh.

Oh thank goodness. I, too, have been checking daily for any news and am so glad that it is "cautiously" positive. You must be exhausted, not only from lack of sleep, but from the worry and stress. Try to take it easy, although with those ARC's you'll have plenty to do. (Us fans would love to help you read through them ;-) Please take care and a cuddle and pet to Huck from all of us!!! Sabena

Charles, thank you. I am soooo happy.

JustWingingit, I somehow couldn't bring myself to post when he was failing, and then once it looked like he might be getting better, it was as if I was afraid I might jinx it if I posted it.

LOgalinOR, yes, he's getting stronger fast. I know have to sit on him to give him the antibiotic they prescribed to prevent any complications. And forget about subcu fluids.

Sabena, I am frankly a wreck. I've also been nursing the two CH kittens through all this, bottle feeding them 4 times a day. They are also now out of the woods, although they have a long road back, having lost the ability to stand or even feed themselves.

Diane, thanks so much. Fingers crossed he keeps mending.

Hooray!! That is terrific news!! Given he's eating and drinking and ferociously resistant to his meds, it sounds like he's getting back to normal :).

Excellent! I've been hoping that no news was good news, but it's good to see it confirmed.

Thanks, Jessica. Fingers still crossed.

Imhess, every day makes me more hopeful.

Helena, we almost lost him right before he rallied, so I was afraid to say anything.

Ali, one of the last tests they did uncovered what it was, and fortunately it's not contagious. But the meds he's now on to treat it have made him pretty sick, and he's already so weak. He has another week to go through.

Oh, so sorry to hear your furry one has been so unwell. :-( Very glad to hear he's on the mend. He looks like he's a beautiful boy.

But how are *you*? Having nursed two of our cats through various traumas (including a brown snake bite) I'm guessing you must be exhausted, physically and emotionally. Try and take care of you, too. :-)

Rachel, I must admit I'm exhausted, physically and emotionally. In addition to Huck, I'm also dealing with our two rescue kittens who reacted badly to their shots and have needed to be hand fed for WEEKS. And then today I was back at the vet with my mom's old cat, Angel. AND my older daughter's cat is also seriously unwell, so I'm supporting her long distance. It's too much all at once.
